Ship maintenance facilities are places where water-borne vehicles such as ships and boats are taken for repairs, inspections, and/or regular upkeep.
The work concerns existing waterborne vehicles and can be routine upkeep or a particular repair. A place used only to berth boats has a different immediate purpose.
An aircraft maintenance facility works on airborne vehicles. Building a new vessel is also separate from servicing one already constructed.
