Numerical expressions of discrete objects or components expressed as a simple count or tally.
Quantities are figures reached by counting discrete objects or components, constituents, or contents of objects. Certain fields in this category must be counted exactly, while others (e.g. population, capacity) are conceptual maximums determined by projections.
In contrast to quantities, measurements are figures expressed in standardized units (e.g. metric units).
The counted or projected unit must be defined: people, rooms, and individual components produce different totals. Some figures describe actual contents, while a capacity describes how many defined units can be accommodated.
