superframe

A system in which multiple framed tubes are connected by horizontal framed trusses.

A superframe is a complex framing system which joins multiple framed tubes, each with its own rigid perimeter, by means of horizontal framed trusses.

Each tube has a perimeter frame, and the horizontal trusses connect those tubes into a larger frame. The connection is part of the load-resisting arrangement, rather than simply a passage or floor spanning between otherwise separate towers.

A bundled tube groups tube structures together, while this superframe connects multiple tubes through horizontal framed trusses. A core plus outrigger system connects a central core to perimeter columns. Large columns alone do not establish the tube-and-truss arrangement described here.
