aac masonry unit
A load-bearing frame composed of small blocks of very lightweight porous concrete.
An AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) masonry unit frame is a load-bearing supporting structure for a building or other built object, which is composed of many individual blocks of very porous concrete laced with air-filled holes. AAC is much softer than regular concrete or concrete masonry units, and can easily be cut with a saw.
Autoclaved aerated concrete has the benefits of light weight, low cost, high thermal efficiency, and resistance to fire and mold.
The air-filled pores are distributed through the concrete blocks. Their load-bearing assembly distinguishes the framing system from a nonstructural AAC lining or partition.
