Files are any kind of documents uploaded or otherwise connected with database objects in order to describe, illustrate, identify, or deepen the knowledge associated with those objects. These may include images, text files, or any other format which supports this purpose and can be uploaded electronically.

The document has a connection to the object it describes or supports. Its electronic format can be an image, text, or another form suited to that purpose.

An archive element specifically retains supporting evidence for data. Other files can illustrate or identify the object without serving that narrower archival role.
