A contact person is a particular individual within a company or other organization who is selected as the point of initial or regular communication with that organization or its concerns.
The contact is a particular person with a designated communication role. Initial inquiries and continuing correspondence are both included; the person need not be the organization's most senior member.
A general company email address or fax number is a communication channel without necessarily identifying an individual. The contact-person field identifies who is selected to receive or maintain the communication.
