campus

A complex of buildings held by one institution on a contiguous site, including the open ground between them.

A campus is the building stock of one institution on a contiguous site, for example a university, a hospital, a research center or a corporate headquarters. The open ground between the buildings belongs to the campus.

Buildings can join a campus after completion if the institution owns or manages them entirely. A building that the institution only partly occupies stays outside it.

Tampere University Hervanta Campus is recorded this way. Where an institution holds several separate sites in one city, each site is its own campus, and a planned area holding more than one of them is a cluster.
