bandy

An ice field with goals at both ends, equipped for the stick-and-ball team sport of bandy.

Bandy is a goal-scoring sport played on ice between two teams of 11 players each, including a goalie for each side. It has similarities to both ice hockey and soccer: like hockey, players move on ice skates and outfield players use sticks; like soccer, it is played with a ball on a large surface, and outfield players may not play the ball with their hands, arms, or head; goalkeepers have separate handling privileges. The ice field may vary in size, between 90-110 meters in length and 45-65 meters in width.

Facilities assigned this usage must include the playing surface, and may also include stadium seating, viewer concessions, ticket areas, warm-up areas, locker rooms, team seating, and other areas related closely to the game.

The ice field and ball distinguish bandy from ice hockey, which uses a puck on a hockey rink. The facility must provide the playing surface, while seating, changing rooms, and concessions are supporting facilities rather than required parts of every bandy venue.
