skylobby

An upper-floor lobby at an elevator transfer zone, with shared space for arriving and transferring occupants.

A skylobby is an additional lobby area situated at an elevator transfer zone on an upper floor level of a structure. Like regular lobbies, a skylobby typically features a gathering space, often with seating and other furniture. Skylobbies also generally provide a common window viewing area which acts as a sort of observation room for tenants.

The lobby is placed where occupants transfer between elevators on an upper level. Its gathering space is part of that circulation arrangement, whether or not it has seats or a common viewing area.

A high-floor lounge or observation room alone is insufficient without the elevator transfer function. A grand entrance hall is defined by its height and finishes, which are separate characteristics from the transfer location of a skylobby.
