flat roofplate

A building summit formed by a flat roof plate without a projecting edge lip, parapet, or higher architectural feature.

A flat roofplate is regarded as the highest architectural feature when it is not surrounded by any vertically projecting lip or parapet, and is not interrupted or superseded by any higher architectural projection. A roof is classified as flat when it is not raked or bowed in any architecturally noticeable way, although it may be curved slightly to shed water.

Slight curvature for drainage is allowed if the roof is not noticeably raked or bowed as an architectural form.

A projecting parapet or another higher architectural feature becomes the top element when present. The roof plate must itself remain the highest architectural feature.
