A designated place for bus passengers to board or leave buses, including terminals, stops, and waiting shelters.
A bus station is any terminal or stop on a bus line, or place designated for boarding or alighting from buses. This usage can be applied to buildings used for bus ticketing and docking of buses, as well as sites along bus lines where passengers are regularly picked up and/or dropped off. It can also be applied to shelters for waiting at any of these places.
A dedicated terminal building is one possible form. A regular roadside boarding location or a shelter associated with that location also falls within the broader bus-station meaning.
A bus stop is the smaller route-stop type. Major stations serving multiple local routes or long-distance routes have separate terminal definitions.
