address sequence

The spatial arrangement of house numbers relative to one another along a street or within a block.

The address sequence of any street or block is the manner in which house numbers there are placed with regard to each other. This describes whether house numbers alternate back and forth across a street, or continue in sequence along the same side.

The sequence concerns the relationship between numbered locations. Alternating across a street and proceeding along one side produce different spatial arrangements.

The address format concerns the written order of address components. A numbering sequence instead concerns where the numbered properties stand relative to one another.
