strip mall

A group of at least three shops around or beside a parking area, without a major anchor tenant.

A strip mall is a group of at least 3 shops around or alongside a parking area, without a major anchor tenant (such as a department store or a major clothing or housewares store). Strip malls are generally smaller than regional malls.

At least three shops are required. Their arrangement relates directly to the parking area.

A regional mall has at least one major anchor. A shopping gallery instead organizes its stores around a pedestrian passage or court.
