power consumption

The number of kilowatts (kW) normally used by an object when fully operating.

The power consumption of an object is the number of kilowatts it uses at its normal level of full operation. This can often be applied to structures that use a defined level of power, such as machine structures and amusement rides.

The operating condition is normal full operation. A reduced setting or an idle period does not describe that condition, even if the object spends much of its time there.

Kilowatts express power at that operating level. Annual electricity consumption measures energy over a year and also depends on how long the object operates.
