Also known as the architect of record, an associate architect is the firm which completes the technical drawings and design details necessary for the realization of a concept by the design architect on a project.

The firm develops the technical drawings and design details that turn the design architect's concept into a realizable project. Its responsibility is therefore distinct from originating the overall form and appearance.

The term is used here for the architect-of-record role. It does not simply mean any architect who happens to collaborate with another practice.
