renamed
A company under a former name, linked to work associated with it while that name was in effect.
The previous name of any company is assigned a separate entry as a renamed company. Each entry with this status is linked to the buildings associated with it while that name was in effect. These buildings are indexed on the pages of both the old (renamed) and new (active) companies.
The former name identifies a period in the company's history. Work associated with that period remains attributable to the identity used at the time.
Renaming describes a change of name rather than necessarily the end of the company's activity. Inactive status concerns cessation of the relevant role instead.
