projecting wall

A building's highest architectural element formed by a vertical or diagonal slab projecting above its roof.

A projecting wall is a vertically or diagonally oriented slab which rises above the roof of a building. It does not include parapets or any small protective walls around the edge of a roof.

The slab can be diagonal as well as vertical. Its projection above the roof distinguishes the element from a wall that ends below the roofline.

A parapet is a small wall at a roof edge or setback and is expressly excluded. The top-element role requires the slab to be the highest architectural feature.
