window type

The type used for a majority of a building's windows, indicating whether and how they open, and how they are divided.

The window type of a building describes the prevailing form of its typical windows. This form depends on a few factors which are common to the function of windows: whether they open or not, whether they are divided, and how they open.

The type combines whether the windows open, how they open, and how they are divided. Similar frame materials can be used for different window types.

Window frame material describes the supporting substance. Counts of windows describe their number, which is separate from their prevailing opening arrangement.
