polyester
A plastic floor formed by a thick coating of polyester resin over an underlying surface.
Polyester flooring is a floor with a thick coating of polyester resin. Formulations made for flooring can provide a sealed surface that is easy to clean.
The polyester resin forms the continuous floor coating. This use differs from a fibrous floor covering whose individual threads happen to be polyester: installed textile carpeting belongs to carpet.
The resin family separates this flooring from epoxy and polyurethane. A smooth appearance or easy cleaning does not distinguish these poured materials; the composition of the coating does.
