Definitions

radial-lobed

A floor plan in the shape of a flower or star, with radial wings arranged around a common center.

A radial-lobed building plan has three or more radial wings reaching out from a central point. These wings can be pointed, rounded, squared, or virtually any other shape. The wings should point towards a common point; otherwise the shape should be called multi-winged.

The lobes in a radial-lobed plan do not have to be identical in length or shape.

If a structure has a circular plan with multiple small lobes, but gives the general impression of a circle, then it should be classified as a circle instead of radial-lobed.
