The installed lighting can illuminate interior spaces or serve architectural, signaling, and display purposes. These uses are included within the building-wide installation work described above.

A lighting manufacturer produces lighting equipment. The installer fits the systems and fixtures at the building, while an electrical contractor can have a broader assignment involving electrical wiring and other systems.
