Bulk storage of raw natural stone before further carving or shaping, excluding metal ores and finished stone products.
Rock storage facilities are places for bulk storage of raw natural stone, usually transported directly from a mine, before it is further carved or shaped. This does not include storage of ores used for metal extraction, nor does it include warehouse or shelf storage of finished stone products.
The stone remains material for further working. Its presence at a storage site is distinct from the mine or quarry operation that extracts it.
Ore storage covers rock intended for metal extraction. Finished stone products held on shelves or in warehouse space are also excluded.
