gas station

A place supplying gasoline, diesel, biofuel, or other motor fuel to cars and other motorized road vehicles.

A gas station is a place where gasoline, diesel, biofuel, and other motor fuel is supplied to cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other motorized road vehicles. It normally consists of an enclosed low-rise building, very often with a separate pavilion structure to shelter the pumps.

The term includes fuels other than gasoline and road vehicles other than cars. A truck fueling station is specifically restricted to large trucks.

An enclosed building and a pump canopy are common forms, not mandatory components. Electric car charging stations have their own specialized usage definition.
