pendulum ride
A large thrill ride carrying secured passengers on a deck that swings back and forth or through loops at height.
A pendulum ride is a large thrill ride in which passengers are strapped into a deck which swings back and forth or in loops at a great height, usually reaching high speeds.
The moving deck carries its passengers through an arc or loop. The restraint arrangement keeps riders attached to that carrier during its motion.
A drop tower instead sends its riders straight downward from a high point. The pendulum ride follows its swinging course around a pivot.
