suspension cableway station

A site where passengers regularly board and alight from ski lifts or any suspended cable cars.

A suspension cableway station is a boarding and/or alighting point on any sort of suspended cablecar system, including aerial tramways and ski lifts. The cabs on a suspension cableway travel above ground, suspended from high cables.

The station area includes related mechanical facilities and service facilities, as well as any platforms or areas designated for stopping cabs. While these stations usually occur only at the ends of a suspended cableway, they can theoretically occur at any point on the route.

Suspension cableway stations are somewhat like funicular stations, except that the cabs run high above the ground. The two end stations may be separated by a valley or chasm, flat ground, or a steep slope.. Intermediate stations along the route are possible but not common.
