A crematorium is a place where dead bodies, either human or animal, are burnt and turned into ashes for burial or for other final placement. Animal crematoriums are classified separately.
Cremation is the defining activity. A place used only to hold a funeral or store ashes does not meet that condition.
A funeral parlor can provide other services between death and interment. Animal crematoriums retain their separate classification.
