design wins competition

The design for a structure is selected from an architectural competition and made a proposal.

A design for a structure becomes the winner of a competition when it is officially chosen by the jury, judge(s), or organizer(s) of an architectural competition. This event moves the structure into the planning phase and changes its status to proposed. This event is not registered for designs in a competition which does not result in a serious proposal.

Official selection must lead to a serious proposal for the structure. Winning a contest that produces no active project is covered by design not chosen in competition, despite the award.

The proposed status records the design's entry into planning. It does not establish construction approval or show that building work has started.
