Utility distribution sites are places within any kind of utility network, other than telecommunications, which participate in the flow, spread, dissemination, or transfer of the substance(s) of those utilities.
The facility participates in movement through a utility network. The distributed substance or energy can vary, with more specific facilities handling water, fuel, heat, or electrical power.
Telecommunication carries signals and data and remains separate. A utility generation or extraction site also has a different immediate purpose from transferring its output through the network.
