A linear geographic pathway for a particular transport mode, whether constructed or designated without construction.
A transportation corridor is a linear pathway for a particular mode of transportation. It includes built pathways as well as designated pathways which involve no construction at all.
The corridor identifies the route along which that mode travels. The route can exist by designation even where no physical surface or structure was built for it.
A roadway provides a road-vehicle route, while an airway describes an aircraft corridor. Their transport purpose is shared despite their different physical settings.
