compost storage

Storage of organic waste kept to biodegrade into soil or soil-like matter, including plant waste, food waste, and manure.

Compost storage sites are places where organic waste of any kind, including food waste, lawn clippings, leaves, branches, and manure are piled up or otherwise kept, with the purpose of allowing them to biodegrade into soil or soil-like matter.

Biodegradation is the intended process while the material is kept. A pile is one physical form, without being the only possible arrangement.

Organic material simply held for later recycling belongs to recycling storage when it is not being composted. The composting purpose distinguishes the uses.
