ramp down

A main entrance is approached from outside by walking or moving down a ramp.

An entrance approach is described as 'ramp down' when one or more pedestrian main entrances to a built object are reached from outside by walking, rolling on wheels, or otherwise moving down an inclined ramp. This ramp may be right at the entrance, or some distance away on the same property.

The ramp slopes downward in the direction of arrival at the entrance. Its location can be immediately outside the doorway or farther away on the same property.

Stairs down instead provide a stepped descent. The approach can include several kinds of movement along the route from the property boundary or public right-of-way.
