An openable window hinged in the middle, rotating about either a horizontal or a vertical central axis.

A tilt window is an openable window which is hinged in the middle. It may open on either a vertical or a horizontal axis.

The hinge axis runs through the middle of the window. A casement instead hinges at a side, and a hopper at the bottom.

Either a horizontal or vertical central axis is included. A window that offers more than one opening axis has the separate tilt-turn definition.
