Bulk storage of crude mineral oil extracted from the earth, excluding gasoline, diesel, and other refined petroleum products.
Petroleum storage facilities are places for bulk storage of raw mineral oil extracted from the earth. This does not include storage of refined petroleum products such as gasoline or diesel fuel.
The oil remains crude petroleum before refining into other products. Its storage is distinct from the extraction activity that brings it out of the ground.
Refined fuels have separate storage meanings, including gasoline storage and heating oil storage. Their petroleum origin does not make them crude oil.
