The power output of an object is the number of kilowatts it produces at its normal level of full operation. This can be applied to structures that generate electrical power, such as wind turbines, dams, and power plants.

The figure describes generation at normal full operation. It can remain the same for two installations that operate for different numbers of hours in a year.

Annual electricity production totals the energy generated during the year. That quantity is expressed in kilowatt-hours and depends on operating time as well as power output.
