long-distance bus terminal

A major station or route endpoint serving multiple long-distance bus routes, usually between metropolitan areas.

A long-distance bus terminal is a major station or end point for multiple bus routes that cover long distances, usually between different metropolitan areas. They serve the sort of bus travel that may compete with trains and airplanes for intercity travel.

This should not be confused with a local bus terminal, which serves multiple local routes.

A stop on one long-distance route alone does not establish a major multi-route terminal. The connecting services are long-distance routes; a local bus terminal primarily connects local services.
