indoor fountain

An ornamental moving-water feature incorporated into a building, including its interior, roof, or facade.

An indoor fountain is an ornamental feature inside a building with continuously or regularly moving water. While freestanding outdoor fountains are listed as individual structures, a fountain is listed as a building feature when it is either inside, on the roof of, or directly on the facade of a building (i.e. is not freestanding).

Fountains located in private units are not listed as building features, unless the entire building is private. Normally these are located in common or public areas of the building, such as a lobby, hallway, or atrium.

Regular or continuous water movement distinguishes a fountain from a decorative indoor pool of standing liquid. The building-feature definition also includes roof and facade installations, despite the word indoor in the title; freestanding outdoor fountains remain separate structures.
