stone slab

A roof covering of natural stone in large slabs or masses, excluding small stone tiles and shingles.

A stone slab roof is any roof made of natural stone which is not divided into small tiles or shingles. It is not a common roofing form, but is used sometimes for small and primitive structures.

The stone forms larger continuous pieces of roof covering. It is natural stone, whether the slab also carries the roof or lies over supporting construction.

Small slate shingles have a different unit format. A concrete slab can have a similar broad shape but is made from concrete rather than natural stone.
