A structure in or beyond its final destruction or disassembly, excluding relocation and the stated standing-ruin exception.
The demolition phase of a structure covers everything after the onset of its destruction, unless destruction is halted midway and the structure is allowed to stand in ruins. This status includes structures removed through professional demolition, acts of war or terrorism, natural disasters, or any other cause.
Demolition does not apply to structures which are removed from a site but relocated elsewhere. However, if a structure is disassembled into various modules, so that no one module can be regarded as the later incarnation of the same building, then the structure is considered demolished.
The cause of destruction does not determine the phase: deliberate demolition and destruction from other causes can both end the structure's existence. Relocation that preserves the structure's identity has the separate treatment stated above.
