A boat storage site is a place where boats are parked for a long duration, either outside of the water or on an enclosed dock. This usage may apply to facilities for storage of large ships as well as the smallest boats, including canoes and kayaks. Boat storage may take the form of a boathouse, an open-air rack, or an open field or lot.
The storage can accommodate a large ship or a small canoe. A fully enclosed boathouse is not required because racks and open lots are included.
The boats remain for a long duration, outside the water or on an enclosed dock. A boat dock more generally provides mooring alongside a pier or wharf.
