new floor added internally

An additional floorplate is completed, or an existing one extended, into an open space on the interior of a building.

A new floor is added internally to a building at the moment when a new floorplate (which did not exist before) or an extension to an existing floorplate is completed on the interior of a building. The new floor can be a mezzanine or a regular floor.

This type of change is usually possible only where a building has a high open space inside, such as an atrium or the interior of a hall.

The reverse of this operation occurs when a floorplate is removed.
