curling
A place with one or more sheets of ice marked and measured for the sport of curling.
A curling facility is a place equipped for team play in the sport of curling, which is played on long rectangular measured curling sheets, with an ice surface and targets made from concentric rings, usually painted under the ice.
The prepared ice sheet has a target of concentric rings, called the house. Teams slide stones toward that target, so the long sheet and scoring rings serve a different game from skating toward a netted goal.
Ice hockey and bandy also use ice but require playing areas equipped for goal-scoring games. An ice surface alone is insufficient for curling without the measured sheet and target arrangement.
