floor plan
A diagram of a structure's horizontal layout, usually showing the rooms and other spaces of one floor.
A floor plan is a diagrammatic image which shows the layout of a structure in outline or detail. Most floor plans map the rooms, interior spaces, and various features of a single floor of a building. It usually includes markings for walls, elevators, doorways, and windows, along with labels for differentiated spaces. It may or may not include elements of the site surrounding the structure.
The plan presents the horizontal arrangement of the structure or floor. It can identify individual rooms and their openings without depicting their vertical appearance, which is the subject of an elevation.
Some surrounding site elements may appear without changing the focus on the floor layout. A site plan instead depicts the grounds or immediate area around the object as its principal subject.
