supertall building
A building whose architectural height is at least 300 meters.

The height threshold for these buildings represented a practical limit throughout the 20th century, with very few examples built worldwide until the beginning of the 21st, when they increased very rapidly especially in places like East Asia and the Persian Gulf.
Structural demands on supertall buildings, especially the need for wind resistance and earthquake resistance, require advanced framing systems compared to regular skyscrapers. Many supertalls utilize combinations of framing materials and composite framing systems to minimize sway and increase overall strength.
