summer sledway

A chute used for sledding without ice or snow, usually situated along a hillside.

A summer sledway is a chute or track designed for sledding without snow or ice. It is usually constructed along the slope of a long hill to provide a satisfyingly long ride. The sledway can be a steel, concrete, or plastic chute, or it can be a set of rails for specially built sleds. The sleds usually roll down the sledway on wheels, but the smooth pathway provides an experience similar to winter sledding.

The sledway operates without a covering of snow or ice. Its route can use a smooth trough or rails suited to the particular sleds.

A bobsled chute specifically has a trough without fixed tracks. The broader summer-sledway form also includes the rail arrangement described above.
