The position and form of an entity acting as a company within a corporate organization or partnership.
Each entity which plays the role of a company -- either in a transaction or with regard to a property -- should be described with regard to its level within the corporate structure. The agent in a transaction is listed as a company, but may in fact be a partnership of different companies or a specific part of a single company. Each of these entities is described and organized with respect to the hierarchy it fits into.
The acting entity can be a whole company, a particular office, or a partnership of firms. Its organizational position is distinct from the service it performs on a project.
A headquarters is the main office, while a consortium is a named project partnership. A company's role describes its work rather than its corporate position.
