An Oriental Orthodox church is a house of worship in either the Armenian, Coptic, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Malankara Syrian, or Syriac Orthodox churches, all of which broke from Western Christianity in the 5th century in a disagreement over the decisions on the nature of Christ reached in the Council of Chalcedon in 451.
