What do the SKYDB Awards recognize?
The awards recognize individual buildings for their architecture, as judged by eligible SKYDB members.
The subject of the award is an individual building. Voters assess the nominated buildings and choose those they consider the strongest architectural work in the annual selection.
Building records and photographs provide a basis for comparison. They can inform an assessment of the design and its relationship to its surroundings. SKYDB does not publish a weighted scoring formula for these qualities; each eligible voter makes a judgment when selecting up to three buildings.
Height does not carry additional voting weight. Past first places include EPIQ and Burj Khalifa, buildings of very different scales. The voting rules apply equally to all candidates.
