architectural award

An award for excellence in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, or another building-design discipline.

An architectural award is a prize, trophy, plaque, or other recognition bestowed for design excellence in the building arts, especially architecture, interior design, or landscape architecture. The recognized achievement may be aesthetic or may represent success in meeting the needs of users through design. It is often presented to the architect of a building project, but can also be given to the owner, developer, to the completed project itself, or any other appropriate recipient.

The design achievement can concern appearance or the successful accommodation of users' needs. The architect is a common recipient, but another involved party or the completed work can receive the honor.

An engineering award specifically concerns engineering excellence. The architectural award recognizes the building arts and design rather than requiring a particular engineering achievement.
