podium complex

A complex of two or more towers carried by one shared low podium, with the podium belonging to the complex.

A podium complex has a low, wide base of one or several floors that carries two or more towers. The podium usually holds retail, parking or a shared lobby, and it is what ties the towers together at ground level. Each tower above it keeps its own entry.

The podium belongs to the complex and is not recorded separately. Where a tall base could stand as a building in its own right, decide by whether the towers rest on it structurally or merely touch it.

Lohas Park Malibu, Marini and Hemera in Hong Kong are each a podium complex, and all of them belong to the Lohas Park residential development, which is a cluster.

Where the buildings share no base, use a multi-building complex.
