radome

An enclosure for protecting microwave transmission equipment.

A radome is an enclosed shell built to protect microwave transmission equipment, especially radar transmitters. The term combines 'radar' and 'dome', and it often takes the form of a dome or bubble, but it can take many other shapes depending on the requirements of the site.

Radomes are built of materials that are usually opaque to the eye but transparent to radio waves, so they form the least practical barrier to transmitted signals. They are generally installed to keep equipment safe from weather, but can also be cosmetic, or used to prevent accidental damage from persons or nearby objects.

These can be assigned as mechanical features of a built object when installed on the roof, facade, or anywhere on the exterior surface.
